Arrival in Delhi and transfer to hotel.

There is an option to visit some historical sights of Delhi. We can go bird watching in Okhla Sanctuary on the banks of Yamuna. Species like Black Kite, Laughing and Spotted Doves, Ring-necked Parakeet, Little Swifts, Little Green Bee-eater, Black Drongo, and a variety of shrikes, mynas, bulbuls and babblers. The pretty little Five-striped Palm Squirrel can be seen everywhere, while Grey Hornbills and Green Barbets are two of the more unusual bird species to look for.
Later in the afternoon transfer to Railway station for our overnight train to Jabalpur.

Jabalpur is situated in the heart of India in Madhya Pradesh about 105Kms from Kanha. We drive around 04 hours to reach Kanha, on arrival at check-in at Lodge afternoon game drive into the park – perhaps even experiencing our first Tiger encounter .

Kanha Tiger Reserve is spread on1,945 sq km and is one of the largest reserves in India. It occupies a beautiful location on a plateau in the Maikal range of hills, and comprises a crescent of forested hills that embraces broad undulating grasslands dotted with clumps of bamboo and Sal forest. There are small pools and a perennial lake, which provide essential drinking holes for the animals. The Reserve was first established in 1955 for the protection of Swamp Deer, for which it is famous.
Now a days there are just 300 left, though this represents a good recovery since 1970 when just 70 individuals remained. Since the launch of ‘Project Tiger’ in the early 1970s, Kanha has been one of the Project’s key Tiger Reserves and, because its wide meadows are so suited to successful Tiger viewing, it is one of the best places in the world to search for them. Besides Tigers, we can also hope to observe plenty of Sambar, Spotted and Swamp Deer. We should also see Gaur, Wild Boar, Common Langur, Asiatic Jackal, and with luck Leopard and Dhole (Indian Wild Dog).
Around 120 species of birds are likely to be encountered around the Reserve during our stay, and these will be among the highlights of the tour. There is a good variety of birds of prey here, including Black-shouldered Kite, Crested Serpent Eagle, White-eyed Buzzard, Shikra, and a variety of vultures. Open country birds such as Painted Francolin, Indian Roller, Yellow- and Red-wattled Lapwings, and a variety of woodpeckers, pigeons, larks, pipits, and drongos are common. In the forests, the elusive Malabar Pied Hornbill, Black-headed Oriole, and a selection of flycatchers, babblers and warblers may be found. In particular, we shall keep a look out for the very rare Green Munia. Sloth Bear and two of India’s lowland antelopes – Chousingha and the beautiful Blackbuck – also occur and can be seen with patience and good fortune.
During this time we will go for rides both mornings & evenings, Tiger watching, Photo graphs et al.
Kanha is one of the Best place to encounter Indian Tiger although there is no guarantee from our side.

You may be also able to take an elephant ride for a close encounter with a Tiger. This will happen when the mahouts,who are employed by the Forest Department to track and monitor the Tigers each day, locate a suitable individual and are then permitted to use their elephants to shuttle eager visitors to otherwise inaccessible areas of the forest for close-up views of a Tiger. Such Tigers are usually resting or even swimming, and your viewing time may be just five or 10 minutes or so. However, if the Tiger begins to move, you will move with it, and viewing times can be much longer if that is the case. Trips on elephant back cannot be guaranteed, as this depends on the successful tracking of a Tiger by the mahouts; also, on occasions, use of its elephants can be withdrawn by the Forest Department if their urgent use is required elsewhere.
Well walking is not allowed inside the Park and we don’t see any one one complaining for obvious reasons, so it is advised always is in the company of guide.

After spending morning in the Park. We head in the evening towards Jabalpur railway station. From there, we will take the overnight sleeper train to Agra.

Arrive Agra in the morning, visit the magnificent Taj Mahal & Agra Fort. Time for some shopping as well.

Optional re-visit to Taj Mahal for Sunrise. After Breakfast drive to Delhi .

Transfer to Delhi Airport. Return flight to home .
