From Thiksey we start a walk of around an hour can be a bit more. Finish walk in time to reach back hotel for lunch. Depending upon the water levels the rafting can start from Skarpoche and end in Nimmu or start from Phey and end in Nimmu. We carry our own lunch and have at the finishing point of Rafting. From here an hour\u2019s drive to Likir monastery \u2013 it\u2019s a beautiful monastery with a small museum and a statue of the Maitriya Bhuddha (future) after visiting the monastery another hour drive to Yangtang around 3500m as per my watch. There is a nice homestay where we stay with a Ladakhi family, depending upon the group size it can be accommodated in more than one HomeStay. From a bridge near the stream we turn right and start climb upwards and then follow the stream, beautiful views from the back side, there will be times of shades so can advise rest stops accordingly. There will be some stones blocks which need to be walked over, it is adventurous as well, and there will then a patch of walking on Jeep track, no asphalt though. Walk up and just before Ulley village are 3 stupas, wonderful for photography with mountains and sky in background and Stupa colour contrast. Ulley village is about 20mins away.<br \/>Final 5-10 mins walk on Jeep road (no asphalt just dirt track) as we enter the Village, it\u2019s a small cosy village with wonderful views. Homestay is good but have only 4 rooms so more rooms available in adjoining homestays. In the afternoon we do a short hike up to reach 4000m mark just to pump ourselves and followed yak path to a small settlement perhaps upper Ulley with good views all around also it was a bit cooler so snow-capped peaks could be seen. We went back to homestay it took 30 mins down along the stream, with a stop at the school which is closed since 5 years, with board and maps still in the classroom. Morning hike 2 \u00be Hrs and Afternoon hike 1 \u00bd -2 Hrs. 5-6 Kms Total height gain 250m .<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"contanier-text-box \"><h5>Day 07: To Hemis Shukpachen .<\/h5><div class=\"contanier-text-box-lt\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210304130210\/https:\/\/www.gojourneys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/homestay-trek-3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-636\" src=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210304130210im_\/https:\/\/www.gojourneys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/homestay-trek-3-300x225.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210304130210im_\/https:\/\/www.gojourneys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/homestay-trek-3-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210304130210im_\/https:\/\/www.gojourneys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/homestay-trek-3-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210304130210im_\/https:\/\/www.gojourneys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/homestay-trek-3.jpg 700w\" alt=\"homestay-trek-3\" \/><\/a><\/div><div class=\"contanier-text-box-rt\"><p>If the weather is warm it will take a bit longer so god to have some breeze during the day We head towards the direction we came previous day and walk first half an hour on jeep track almost going lower, then turn right through a rocky patch, another twenty minutes or so to cross this and reach the base of the pass. The rocky formations add to the thrill a bit. From here we start the ascent to the perhaps highest point of the trek 4096m. After spending some time on top continue the descent to the village of Hemis. It is rewarding views across the pass and there is the option to hike a bit up for those who are interested. Total walk 3 \u00bd hrs. In the afternoon walk a round of the village then climb up to the newly build statue of the Buddha Shakyamuni Buddha statue (past Budhha), standing imposing on the village. 11 Kms 150m and 350m<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"contanier-text-box \"><h5>Day 08: To Temisgam .<\/h5><div class=\"contanier-text-box-lt\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210304130210\/https:\/\/www.gojourneys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/homestay-trek4.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-637\" src=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210304130210im_\/https:\/\/www.gojourneys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/homestay-trek4-300x225.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210304130210im_\/https:\/\/www.gojourneys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/homestay-trek4-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210304130210im_\/https:\/\/www.gojourneys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/homestay-trek4-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210304130210im_\/https:\/\/www.gojourneys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/homestay-trek4.jpg 700w\" alt=\"homestay-trek4\" \/><\/a><\/div><div class=\"contanier-text-box-rt\"><p>Start the walk to North West as we follow the trail near the holy juniper trees. We reach first past 3790 m almost a flat just a bit uphill before the pass. From the pass one can have good views of the Hemis village and the pass ahead. From here it is a bit downhill and then we start the gradual ascent to the base of Lago La. The final ascent to the pass is a bit demanding and equally exiting. After reaching the top there is option to hike a bit further up for those interested to get a good view of the landscape. From here we descend gradually to the village of Ang for lunch. From Ang it is around an hour to Temisgam. 12.5kms 250m 350m<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"contanier-text-box \"><h5>Day 09: To Khaltse and Lamayuru .<\/h5><div class=\"contanier-text-box-lt\">\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210304130210\/https:\/\/www.gojourneys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/homestay-trek5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-634\" src=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210304130210im_\/https:\/\/www.gojourneys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/homestay-trek5-300x225.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210304130210im_\/https:\/\/www.gojourneys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/homestay-trek5-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210304130210im_\/https:\/\/www.gojourneys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/homestay-trek5-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210304130210im_\/https:\/\/www.gojourneys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/homestay-trek5.jpg 700w\" alt=\"homestay-trek5\" \/><\/a><\/div><div class=\"contanier-text-box-rt\"><p>We start the walk in direction of Tia village walking on the road surface first, which is a jeep track with Asphalt, after reaching the village we cross the stream on wooden plank bridge. From here we start an ascent to pass, after walking midway there is an option to walk on jeep track being build no transport can come as it\u2019s just not ready with stones in middle and then a short hike. We reach our last pass on the trail Bong bong la 3550m with good views of Temisgam, Tia and the stream. From here a descend to road head Ballu Kharb, After lunch we head to Lamayuru, visit the monastery and check-in to a guest house, there are some good views of the nearby landscape often called moon land. For those willing there is a good short stroll through the village homes. Walking 12 Kms 4 \u00bd hrs hike 360m 150m<br \/>2 Hrs drive<\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"contanier-text-box \"><h5>Day 10: To Alchi .<\/h5><div class=\"contanier-text-box-lt\"><a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210304130210\/https:\/\/www.gojourneys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/hmestay-trek.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-635\" src=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210304130210im_\/https:\/\/www.gojourneys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/hmestay-trek-300x225.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210304130210im_\/https:\/\/www.gojourneys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/hmestay-trek-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210304130210im_\/https:\/\/www.gojourneys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/hmestay-trek-600x450.jpg 600w, https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20210304130210im_\/https:\/\/www.gojourneys.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/hmestay-trek.jpg 700w\" alt=\"hmestay-trek\" \/><\/a><\/div><div class=\"contanier-text-box-rt\"><p>After breakfast head to Alchi enroute visit the Ridzong monastery, with hopefully school opened a god chance to sneak peek into school rooms. This is followed by a visit to the nunnery, perhaps the nuns invite for a good tea. Continue drive to Alchi and after lunch visit the Alchi monastery for Alchi monastery- with the UNESCO world heritage panting.
